Seven Lakes (Haft Kul)
in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan

In the west of Tajikistan, not far from the city of Penjikent, there is a beautiful natural complex called Seven Lakes, which amazes everyone with the rich and constantly changing color of its water.
Ancient petroglyphs found on the shore of one of them indicate that the lakes are quite old. The first lake, which is located at an altitude of 1640 meters above sea level, is called Nezhigon. Then, climbing the serpentine, we meet lakes Soya, Gushor, Nofin, Khurdak, and Marguzor one after another. The last lake, Khazorchashma, which translates as a thousand springs, is located at 2400 meters above sea level. The total difference in altitude is 760 meters, and the distance between the outer lakes is more than 14 km. A dirt road passes through all seven lakes. The duration of the ascent, excluding stops, will take no more than an hour.
Today, there are several small villages near the Seven Lakes. You can meet local children there. The lakes are fed by mountain rivers, so the water level in the lakes rises in the summer, and in the winter months the water level is low.
The most convenient way to get to this attraction in the Fann Mountains is by car from Samarkand.

It is better to allocate a full day to visit the Seven Lakes, since despite the short distance, you will want to stop at least for 10-20 minutes at each lake.
